Vicki Anstey
Vicki is the UK's leading Barre Expert
Vicki founded the UK’s first dedicated Barre and Ballet Studio, Barreworks Studio in 2009 at a time when single concept Studios did not exist and when gyms were cold, sterile environments full of equipment no-one knew how to use.
Vicki had discovered the transformative effects of barre some years earlier as a leading advertising and marketing executive who had lost sight of her physical health in an all-consuming career. Pitched to her as a method that ‘didn’t really feel like exercise at all’ Vicki took her first Lotte Berk class in 2004 and was immediately hooked.
Two years later, she quit her career in advertising and trained for 18 months at the Lotte Berk Studio in London. Vicki quickly established herself as a popular Instructor at the Studio, but wanted more inspiration and influence than was available in the UK.

The barre scene in New York was huge and Vicki spent several years researching studios and classes, and developing repertoire. In 2015, she completed advanced-level instructor training with barre legends and pioneers Elisabelth Halfpapp and Fred Devito, founders of one of the biggest barre Studio networks in the U.S, Exhale. As a non-dancer, she even immersed herself in a residential course at New York City Ballet to accelerate her knowledge and command of classical ballet as the foundation for all barre methodology.
10 years later and Barreworks was a thriving Studio, considered the UK’s pioneering centre of barre fitness, home to the UK’s only Studio-based, accredited Barre Instructor Training programmes and a team of elite Instructors all personally trained by Vicki herself.
Vicki has exploited her physical foundations in barre to reach the final stages (as one of the first ever females to participate) of Channel 4’s ‘SAS Who Dares Wins’ and to prepare to row the Pacific Ocean in the ‘Great Pacific Race’ as one third of female trio ‘Girls Who Dare’.
Following the Covid pandemic and the transition from Studio to online, Vicki has partnered with one of her own trained Instructors, former track and field athlete and elite Pilates coach Helen Lewis to pool knowledge, barre content and to create a cutting-edge online platform that gives you access to the best barre instruction in the world.
